Make A Headboard Using An Old Window

Make A Headboard Using An Old Window

DISCLOSURE: This post is sponsored by Fusion Mineral Paint & Muddaritaville Stencils

For ages I have been a collector of rusty, crusty old stuff. Including wonderful doors that I use all over our home. But this huge, heavy old window has eluded my creative self, and lived in our junk pile for ages. What to do with it? One day I noticed that, turned on its side, it was the same horizontal shape as the bead board headboard in our guest bedroom. A quick measure provided that I could paint it the same Fusion Mineral Paint Coal Black color, add a Moroccan-inspired stencil pattern, and mount it on top.

Wedding photo by MelissaTomaPhotography.com

In June this year our daughter Mia and fiancé Paul tied the knot in a gorgeous woodsy setting, followed by a reception in a fabulous barn. This was our first wedding, with so many special moments with family and friends. We waited quite impatiently for the photos – but over 450 gorgeous images arrived weeks later. So worth the wait. It was difficult to chose “the one” but I did it and love this one. I wanted to frame this wedding portrait it in a creative way, using this gilded frame I had made years ago and Fusion Mineral Paint with a Muddaritaville Studio stencil.

Honestly, unlike my artsy, creative friends and neighbors, I have never been an ambitious seasonal decorator. So, I selected this lovely Home sign by Muddaritaville Studio for this reverse-painted glass project because I can make it work all year round at our little covered porch at the back door. I chose Fusion Mineral Paint colors that can blend with fall, Thanksgiving, and Christmas when I add coordinating décor items. It was so fun to use so many fabulous colors all at once. The Fusion fan deck made it so easy.

There’s nothing easier than painting on the back side of clear glass plates. They can be found at dollar stores and Goodwill, and are surprisingly durable. These are from our daughter Mia’s wedding reception in June and I knew exactly how to re-use them.

I am going to do two different patterns, one on the dinner plate, and another on the salad plate, so that they look amazing layered together. I am painting with Fusion Mineral Paint in my favorite coordinating colors, plus two Muddaritaville Studio stencil designs.

Stencil A Reverse-Painted Glass Serving Tray

Let’s stencil a gorgeous reverse-painted glass serving tray with Fusion Mineral Paint metallic paint that’s perfect for a summer wine and cheese party – or even the holidays! The Muddaritaville stencil featuring white wines is my fave, and there is one for reds too. Think making these with friends, or create several in different colors to give as gifts.
