The French Farmer's Wife Holiday Barn Sale in Kernersville, NC.

I’m feeling so honored to have visited The French Farmer’s Wife barn just days before the opening of the holiday show, Thursday through Saturday, October 22 – 24, 2020 in Kernersville, North Carolina. Getting to see the show in all of its Christmas glory before the crowds arrive was simply magical. Owners and master stylists Gail Cekuta and Kathee Zurian have literally outdone themselves.

If you are passionate about adding to your holiday collections, and viewing all new ideas for setting a gorgeous table, you MUST see this show. And, if you are more interested in discovering rustic French home décor like me, this is still the perfect show for you.

Kathee and Gail are particularly thrilled to offer gorgeous holiday ornaments and décor this year because local stores have either closed, or have chosen to limit selections due to COVID-19. You will see how beautifully their choices can blend with items you already own, or, you can start from scratch and follow their designs exactly.

There are several areas in the barn that are color-themed. Some are traditional, like the red and green below.

Simplicity speaks to me, particularly in the berries, the old fire truck, and Santa. Aren’t these the cutest Santas riding lambs, atop locally-made red plates from Gray Rock Pottery, adorned with tiny trees. Perfection.

This monochromatic room stopped me in my tracks. The combination of the chandelier, rusty salvaged metal elements, and the scrolled antique dining set made me want to purchase it all, as is.

When do you see stunning silvery grey and cream for Christmas? Bottle trees, old silverware, and antlers. Just brilliant.

The barn ceiling itself makes a marvelous backdrop for natural greens and baskets paired with French folding chairs and little lambs with wreaths and birds nests.

Personally, I collect kantha throws…

…so it’s always exciting to see them displayed in conjunction with the holidays.

5 TIPS FOR SHOPPING HOLIDAY BARN SALES!

  1. Get there early! Many items are one of a kind.
  2. If you like it, pick it up. It may not be there later.
  3. Look for a hold table to park your selections on so you can keep shopping.
  4. Bring a vehicle large enough to carry your treasures if you are traveling far. Ask about later pick-up if you want to buy big items.
  5. Returns are rarely accepted. Check the seller’s policy.

  1. What a treat!! Kathee and Gail have such a keen sense of styling. The way they display goods makes you want to buy everything. I was in the barn when we shot Kathee’s home for Prairie Style and the setting is fabulous. Did you end up buying another Kantha throw? They are beautiful. I love all the holiday displays but my favorite is the silver and cream combination. I will go to FB to see more. Thanks for this virtual visit. It put me in the holiday mood. xo

  2. Thank you Debbie, you are such a talented photographer and writer. Gail and I are so grateful to you and we hold your friendship very dear to us. We appreciate your support of TFFW.
