Last Saturday it happened. Our daughter Mia’s Marrakech-inspired wedding shower. Our first child to marry, it was quite simply magical. Her sister Jenny, aunt Patricia, and cousin Jackie prepared the loveliest, most delectable, colorful brunch feast and decorations for our guests. My part was to provide our home as the venue, and my collection of treasures from Marrakech, purchased during three wonderful, memory-filled trips. Mia’s decorating style is beginning to embrace the textures and patterns of Morocco, and I know she would love this theme.

Antique silver teapots and a stunning footed tray. Handcrafted pink napkins, gifted to me by Maryam Montague at Peacock Pavilions in Marrakech when I worked with a team of artists on decorative finishes at her posh boutique hotel.

Lovely mint tea glasses, and artsy candle holders.

All accented by the pretty fluted floral paper plates and copper-handled silverware and adorable polka-dotted crudité cups filled with carrots, peppers, and teeny broccoli spears.

The prettiest red and pick roses in pineapples, fruit in a green leaf-inspired bowl, elegant mini-muffins and croissants with chicken salad and shrimp with cocktail sauce. Is your mouth watering yet?

To me, the fancy donuts took the cake! Or, maybe it was the wine and little cans of champagne with a teeny straw.

Bridesmaids, aunts, neighbor Marsha, and Mia’s mother-in-law to be, Marie, adjourned to the deck to celebrate and open gifts on a perfect, not-a-cloud-in-the-sky day. Special surprises included Mia’s forever friend, Mary Kerr, gorgeously pregnant with twins, her Texas amie Kirby, and coastal forever friend Brea. Sarah, Mom of Mia’s tiny ring-bearer and Paul’s best man’s wife joined us too!

Here, Mia is assisted by her maid of honor, sister Jenny.

Everyone, including Mia’s red-haired aunt Sharon, wrote their advice for Mia and Paul for a lifetime of health and happiness while enjoying the gorgeous day, and getting to know new family.

Jenny and Mia ended the glorious celebration showing off their matching turquoise sister rings.

So excited for the upcoming nuptials on June 5, here in North Carolina! Stay tuned…
