SO, WHAT EXACTLY IS OUR HOME’S STYLE?
I call our 1977 brick ranch “rustic elegant.” Leading into the front door is a lovely courtyard full of plants and an Italian pottery water fountain that are our home’s defining features. Inside, find painted and unfinished wood furniture, ethnic textiles, one-of-a-kind accessories, local pottery, crusty columns, old doors, and whatever I discover as life goes on. I am excited to show you how you can shop my favorite rustic home decor sources.
People ask me where I shop constantly, and my answer is barn sales, consignment shops, the High Point Furniture Market, and my favorite, the souks in Morocco. ( Did you know that I take shopping groups there with my interior designer friend Sandra? Stay tuned after this pandemic is over.)
WHERE DID MY CRUSTY STYLE COME FROM?
I became a full-time decorative painter about 20 years ago when textured Tuscan wall finishes were all the rage. Then I became crazy about creating heavy distressed painted furniture finishes. Naturally, earthy textiles, simple linen window treatments, and heavily distressed furniture followed suit.

A picture is worth a thousand words during this ugly winter weather.
This week I decided to share some online pieces and stores so you can shop away in this post and get ideas of where to look, even if the item is sold out!
